Tennis Center

Six lighted Har-Tru tennis courts. Available to all VillageWalk Residents, overnight guests & visitors as noted.
These beautiful courts are located near the VillageWalk Town Center.

November 1st to April 30th
Prime Time: 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
Winter Season – NO visitors during Prime Time; after Prime Time (11:00 A.M.), an equal number of visitors to playing residents may play on each court. However, a visitor may play no more than once a week.

May 1st to October 31st
• Prime Time: 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
Summer Season – An equal number of visitors to playing Residents may play on each court. However, a visitor may play no more than once a week.

Players may turn on the lights for evening play using the switches located outside of each court. Lights will shut off automatically at 10 P.M.

Court time may be reserved by residents up to 3 days in advance. Reservation sheets are posted daily by 7:00 A.M. in the Tennis Center.

YOU MAY NOT SIGN UP FOR CONSECUTIVE TIME SLOTS. The same players may not sign up for consecutive time slots using different names.
All players first initial, last name and street should appear on the sheet.
You may play as many times as you wish each week if there are open courts.

Court time is limited to 1-1/2 hours per reservation during Prime Time.
At the end of the reserved period, players must promptly relinquish their court to the next reserving players.
Whenever you see an open court that no one has reserved, you may add your name to the sheet for that time and walk up and play.
There is a one and one-half hour playing limit if others are waiting.

Please have consideration of other players if you are not going to use the court and remove your reservation from the sheet.

Courts that have been reserved will become open for others to use after 10 minutes.

Residents are responsible for their guests and visitors.

Only tennis shoes suitable for wear on clay tennis courts may be worn, any other footwear is not acceptable. The following attire is unacceptable: cut-off jeans or pants, tank tops and bathing suits. Shirts must be worn while on the courts.

No events, parties or tournaments shall be played during Prime Time.
Any form of tennis activity such as tournaments, league play and special events must be presented to the Tennis Committee for its recommendation and approved by the Town Manager or Activities Director.
Approved scheduled activities shall have priority over other court reservations and random tennis play.

Tennis only on the tennis courts.
No pets on the courts or in the Tennis Center building.
Proper tennis etiquette shall be observed at all times.
Excessive noise, racquet throwing and profanity will not be permitted at any time.

A tennis professional certified by the USPTA or USTA may be hired at the Resident’s personal cost to give tennis lessons at the VillageWalk Tennis Center.
Prior to any instruction in VillageWalk all tennis professionals must submit a certificate of insurance and a copy of their USPTA or USTA certification to remain on file in the office of the Activities Director.
The comprehensive general liability, CGL policy, shall contain MINIMUM policy limits of one million dollars ($1,000,000). The designated teaching professional may conduct individual and group lessons.
These teaching activities are limited to non-prime time and are limited to one court.
(Only court 6 may be used for lessons). Tennis lessons are restricted to VillageWalk residents.

Parents will be responsible for their children’s behavior at all times on the courts and will be responsible for any damages caused by their children.
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult unless participating in a children’s organized event or taking a lesson.

Tennis courts are not be used for any other activities then tennis: no golf practice, bikes, skateboards, roller blades, etc.

Ball machines and ball baskets may not be used during prime time.
Ball machines and baskets may only be used on court 6. If court 6 is occupied they maybe used on court 5.

• FYI:
The VillageWalk of Sarasota Homeowners Association Board of Directors shall manage all tennis facilities.

Courts will be closed for maintenance, safety considerations or adverse weather conditions as determined by the Board of Directors and implemented by the Town Manager.

All players shall remain off the courts immediately after a heavy rain.
